French teachers unions hold a nationwide day of protests

French teachers unions called for a one-day nationwide strike on Tuesday, November 10th. President Emmanuel Macron and his government introduce the second lockdown for the whole of France, but they decide against the closing schools. That move provoked a revolt in teachers and pupils who say their health is put at risk in crowded school premises. Not all teaching unions have joined the strike call, so the effect on schools will vary around France.

On Monday, students outside a high school in Compiègne clashed with police after calling for more safety measures. See more
